Dr. Isaac Elias
Welcome, and thank you for visiting Brit Milah by Dr. Isaac Elias. My name is Isaac, and I am deeply committed to providing care, guidance, and excellence to families during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
I am proud to be a lifelong member of Vancouver's Jewish community, where my roots have shaped my passion for service and tradition. I hold degrees from Columbia University, Yale University, and the Jewish Theological Seminary, where I also earned certification in Brit Milah from the Rabbinic Assembly. My professional journey has been enriched by a residency in Pediatrics at BC Children's Hospital and specialized training in Nephrology. For over five years, I have been privileged to work in the NICU at BC Women's Hospital, caring for the most vulnerable newborns with expertise and compassion.
In addition to my medical practice, I offer Brit Milah services to Jewish families and those wishing to honor their connection to Judaism. I work closely with Rabbis across Vancouver and the lower mainland to ensure a meaningful, respectful, and inclusive experience. My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding, recognizing the unique needs of each family.
Whether you are seeking a skilled practitioner for Brit Milah or need support and care for your newborn, I am here to help. Please don't hesitate to contact me for a prompt response and a thoughtful conversation about how I can support your family.
I look forward to connecting with you.
About the Brit Milah
-
The Meaning
A Brit Milah, or ritual circumcision, is one of the most significant traditions in Judaism. It is a covenantal ceremony performed on the eighth day of a baby boy's life (unless medically delayed) that marks his entry into the Jewish community.
-
The Mitzvah
his ceremony symbolizes faith, continuity, and a deep connection to Jewish heritage. More than a physical act, it is a profound expression of commitment to Jewish values and traditions, linking each generation to the covenant established thousands of years ago.
-
The Mohel
The Brit Milah is performed by a trained and certified mohel (ritual circumciser). I am certified by the Rabbinic Assembly and bring both religious and medical expertise to every ceremony, ensuring the highest standards of care and tradition.
-
The Ceremony
The ceremony includes blessings, the circumcision itself, and the baby’s naming. Family members and a Rabbi (if present) may also participate. I guide families through every step to ensure it is a memorable and spiritual experience.
